THE
BASIC BEER BREWING KIT : This kit will get you started in the rewarding
hobby of homebrewing, providing all of the ingrediants and nearly all of
the equipment you need to make a five gallon batch of very drinkable amber
ale, much like the beer at your local Microbrewery. You only need a three
to five gallon enamel, copper or stainless steel pot, and a kitchen range,
we supply everything else! Oh, one more thing you'll need are beer bottles-
the crown cap style, not screw-on (and maybe five or six hours of your
spare time). The equipment, properly cleaned and cared for, will last for
dozens, if not hundreds, of brews.
Basic Equipment List: 6 Gal. plastic fermenter/bottling tank, w/lid- 2 ea, airlock w/stopper- 2 ea., racking cane w/ hose & clamp, bottle filling wand, bottle capper, bottle cleaning brush, precision hydrometer, thermometer, 24 inch spoon, nylon steeping bag, plastic funnel, strainer and turkey baster (essential for sanitary siphoning!).
The basic beer ingrediants of malt, hops, yeast and water (yours) that magically combine to make this golden elixer that is one of the earliest accomplishments of civilized man, are naturally included.
Also included are enough sanitizing and sterilizing agents for several batches, one gross bottle caps,the well regarded book, BREWING QUALITY BEERS, by Byron Burch, and detailed instructions to get you started brewing your own microbrew- quality beer at home. THE
BASIC WINE MAKING KIT : This kit provides you with all of the equipment
and materials necessary to make a very tasty five gallon batch of wine
(you provide the bottles, 24 or 25 750ml, or a dozen 1.5 liter). The ingrediants
are in the form of a concentrate kit by Vintner Reserve, including several
varieties each of Red and White- please check with us at C.B. Schrock for
availability. These kits make a very nice batch of wine, and will allow
you to get the feel for the process before you advance on to grape and
or fruit wines.
Basic Equipment List : 6 gal. plastic fermenter/ bottling tank, air lock w/stopper, racking tube w/hose & clamp, bottle filling wand, bottle brush, carboy brush, precision hydrometer, thermometer, 24 in. plastic spoon, turkey baster and a deluxe hand corker. Please NOTE that we no longer supply a glass carboy due to problems with breakage during shipping. You should be able to obtain one locally for about $15.00.
Also included are a supply of BTF Iodine sterilant, one lb. of TSP sanitizer, enough corks for your first batch of delicious home made wine and the book, JIM AND GEORGE'S HOME WINEMAKING, which will answer all your winemaking questions, and includes numerous recipies for making grape and fruit wines.
